Lord, I'm listening!

Yesterday at noon, Chris called me in a panic. He had been hit in the side on one of the busiest streets in our area. A young man was pulling out of a parking lot trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic to the parking lot across the street. The right lane heading the same direction as Chris had stopped due to a car pulling in the same parking lot this young man was coming out of. He didn't see Chris & when he gunned it to get across, he came right into Chris' passenger side. Chris tried to swerve and speed up to avoid being hit, but there was no way. His passenger side is severely damaged from the front tire to the back including both rims. Praising the Lord, Chris is not hurt, just shaken quite a bit & neither of the kids were with him. Skyler would have been on that side of the truck had she been with him; however, our neighbour had invited her to VBS this week.

In MS, we are known to have one of the highest insurance ratings on "uninsured motorists." Why did I say that? You guessed it - the young man was uninsured & driving his vehicle without car tags & only had a "copy" of his driver's license where he had purchased the vehicle almost a month ago. He was issued a ticket for driving without insurance & that was all. The ticket will cost $600, but the police officer told him that if he got insurance today, when he went to court, they would probably dismiss the charges. Okay, so he doesn't have to pay a ticket, he doesn't have to pay for my car repairs or have to deal with his insurance rates going up due to the accident, but I have to pay a $200 deductible to fix my vehicle & worry about my rates going up because my insurance had to "foot the bill!" Doesn't see fair, does it?!

I'll stop venting now - I'm very thankful the Lord kept Chris safe! I can't help but say after all that has happened this year so far, "Lord, I'm listening!"

Wow that is crazy. Glad he was all right though!! Does MS not have an insurance law for getting plates? Or do people just get it long enough to get plates and then drop it?

You only have to have insurance in the state of MS if you finance a vehicle. And you technically have 30 days to get your plates. He bought his vehicle on June 13, so his 30 days are almost up.

haha - I forgot you said he didn't have the plates yet. I had focused on the uninsured part. I know some states don't require it, but I've always lived in states that required it even when you didn't owe on the car.
