Update!
We're moving next week! Chris talked to the landlord last night & the house is empty and they are prepping it for our arrival. We are also blessed that they said our first month of rent is not due until Jan 1, but we can move on in whenever we are ready! Praise the Lord!

Packing
In the 9.5 years I've been married, my dear sweet husband & I have only moved once (not counting our initial move when we got married). A little over 9 years ago, we bought the house we currently live in. Now I know why we haven't considered moving before now! I can honestly say that I hate packing! I need to get things packed up and out of the way, but I'm afraid I'll need it! Not to mention, we had only been married for 6 months the first time we moved - we were still in newlywed poverty and didn't own very much. 9 years & 2 kids later....we've accumulated quite a collection.
The tenant living in the house we are looking to move into is supposed to be moving out today, but we haven't heard anything. The landlord wants one week to turn the house around and have it ready for us, so we are really hoping and praying the tenant can be out before the end of this week! Pray with us, please?!
Happy Monday - hope everyone has a great week!

Finally!
I am so proud to say I am the wife of an ordained minister! Chris had his ordination council this weekend & last night received his ordination certificate. He put a lot of hard work, sweat, and tears into studying for this major accomplishment. I am so proud of him!!

A Kept Woman
I Am a 'Kept' Woman
You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind,But GOD kept me sane. (Isa. 26:3)
There were times when I thought I could go no longer,But the LORD kept me moving. (Gen 28:15)
At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong,But the LORD kept my mouth shut. (Psa. 13)
Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc.., (Matt. 6:25 -34)
When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)
I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!I'm blessed to be 'kept.'

Last night was our first service in Corinth, MS. The members there were very happy we are finally there & were so welcoming. We are looking forward to the weekend when we will be back for Sunday services!
Please pray that the Lord will bless with a home for us to rent. We are going to begin looking while we are there this weekend. Also, we realize that once we move, a commute of over an hour would be difficult for me to do 5 days a week, so I will also be keeping my eyes and ears open for a job in Corinth. I know the Lord can do great & mighty things! I would really like to get a job at the hospital and we are actually praying that an opportunity will open up there for me.
Skyler & Grady are adjusting well. Skyler has already made several new friends at our new home church along with Grady. Grady was upset last night when we didn't go to "Jim's house" (that's what he called the church), but was fine once he hit the nursery and started playing with his new friend.
And I leave you with a couple pics of my "cool cat kids!" Don't ya love Grady's new hat?

Reminiscing
This was 2 years ago today.

I was technically on "bedrest" for the last 2 weeks of the pregnancy, but I was told to report to the hospital on the evening of September 12, so that we could induce the next morning. My mother had come several days before to help out & I thought it wouldn't hurt to "hurry" up the baby a little. I specifically remembering we all got up early that Monday morning, got Skyler off to school, went and ate breakfast at Cracker Barrell, & shopped all day long. About lunch time, I had to have a wheelchair in every store we went in because I felt like "the sky was falling" down below! lol Chris chauffered us around & we had so much fun laughing and cutting up all day long! We picked up Skyler from school, helped get her homework done, and then went back out again. We went to the Mexican restaurant (that's what I ate the day before I went into labor w/ Skyler) and then walked around Walmart for almost 2 hours before returning home. What a day! I can remember being so exhausted - every bone in my body ached. Except for getting up a zillion times to pee, I distinctly remember sleeping very well that night.
Some days I miss that big pregnant belly. I hope the Lord gives me the chance to do it all again!

Dancing
I received this via email this morning:
Guidance (Author Unknown)
"When I thought about the word guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person relaxes and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word guidance. When I saw "G," I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i." God, "u" and "I" dance.
God, you and I dance. This statement is what guidance means to me. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead."

Fear not, stand still, & see!
Exodus 14:13
13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

I love my husband!
Last night, I was extremely exhausted. I took a bath around 8:30 and was in the bed by 9:00. It took me less than 5 minutes to fall asleep, but when I woke up at 2:30 to use the bathroom, my hubby wasn't beside me. One peek down the hall & I realized he was sleeping on the couch. So, I went to the bathroom & went back to bed. It was probably one of the best nights of sleep I have gotten in weeks. I got straight up when the alarm went off & felt great!!
Chris said he came to bed around 10:30 and I looked so comfortable sleeping in the center of the bed, so he just grabbed his pillow and went to the couch. How sweet is that?!

The Weekend
Here's a few pics from the weekend. We met mom, dad, and Matthew Saturday morning at Natchez Trace State Park. The weather was gorgeous - stayed right around 84 degrees & we had a nice shady spot with the breeze blowing. We grilled out, played games, and just sat around and visited for the most part. We celebrated the kiddos & moms birthday. Headed home around 5:00 that evening. We had a really good day & it was nice to be able to see my brother while he is home. He will be heading back to the desert on Sept 2.
Browning went with us - he even dressed up!

Grady decided he liked tomatoes - he calls them "manos".

Grady liked the cake too!

Our shady spot.

Birthday presents from Memomma & Dedaddy:
Grady loves his new dump truck with blocks

Skyler will smell good & have perfect hair (we were so thankful mom got her a hair clip organizer - something she really needed BAD!)!

Mattman, Grady, & Skyler

The grandparents & grandkids

Saying goodbye...

We had a full day - they were all asleep before we even got out of the park (notice the dog is conked out in the back as well! LOL)!

The Eagle Has Landed
Mom just called to tell me that my brother was able to change his ticket once he got to Atlanta, but didn't have enough time to call her & dad before boarding the airplane. He called once he landed in Nashville with "Can you come get me?!" Mom was picking up dad and they were heading to the airport. I know this is going to really cheer up my mom after the past rough couple of weeks she has had!!

My brother
My mom called earlier this morning to say she had spoken with my brother. He was ready to board a plane in Kuwait, anticipating an 18 hour flight from there to Atlanta. Once in Atlanta, he will have a 10 hour layover & be in Nashville tomorrow afternoon around 4:30. WHOOOHOOO! While he is home for a few weeks, we are going to meet he, mom, & dad on Sat. halfway at Natchez Trace State Park & have a birthday party for both kiddos and just hang out for the day. The kids are so excited - all they can say is "Mattman!"
Today ends the 5th day of 3rd grade. Skyler got an amazing teacher this year & we "clicked" with her right off the bat. She shared her testimony with us up front that she is a Christian, so that made us feel a lot better about Skyler being in her classroom. Last year was so tough with her teacher going out for maternity leave 1/2 through the year and having 3 different sub's over that course of time. I hope we don't ever have to deal with that again!
Grady's getting started on potty training. We bought him some cute little cotton training underwear with footballs, baseballs, etc. on them. He looked so cute running around the house in them. He realized he needed to potty, and looked at me & said "Mommy, potty!" but by the time we got in there, he had already gone in his new undies. He'll get there........eventually!!! LOL!
Well, now that school has started, maybe things will slow down a little bit for our household!

Yes, we're back from Kansas & yes, I'm so exhausted beyond imagine. Will blog and post pics from the trip later this week!

Lord, I'm listening!
Yesterday at noon, Chris called me in a panic. He had been hit in the side on one of the busiest streets in our area. A young man was pulling out of a parking lot trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic to the parking lot across the street. The right lane heading the same direction as Chris had stopped due to a car pulling in the same parking lot this young man was coming out of. He didn't see Chris & when he gunned it to get across, he came right into Chris' passenger side. Chris tried to swerve and speed up to avoid being hit, but there was no way. His passenger side is severely damaged from the front tire to the back including both rims. Praising the Lord, Chris is not hurt, just shaken quite a bit & neither of the kids were with him. Skyler would have been on that side of the truck had she been with him; however, our neighbour had invited her to VBS this week.
In MS, we are known to have one of the highest insurance ratings on "uninsured motorists." Why did I say that? You guessed it - the young man was uninsured & driving his vehicle without car tags & only had a "copy" of his driver's license where he had purchased the vehicle almost a month ago. He was issued a ticket for driving without insurance & that was all. The ticket will cost $600, but the police officer told him that if he got insurance today, when he went to court, they would probably dismiss the charges. Okay, so he doesn't have to pay a ticket, he doesn't have to pay for my car repairs or have to deal with his insurance rates going up due to the accident, but I have to pay a $200 deductible to fix my vehicle & worry about my rates going up because my insurance had to "foot the bill!" Doesn't see fair, does it?!
I'll stop venting now - I'm very thankful the Lord kept Chris safe! I can't help but say after all that has happened this year so far, "Lord, I'm listening!"

Rest for the weary
I overslept for the first time in goodness knows how many years!! I remember waking to the alarm at 6:00 & turning it off instead of hitting snooze. The next thing I remember is hearing Grady holler "Mommy, Daddy!" and rolling over to the clock at 8:00 - YIKES! I go in at 7:30 in the morning, so I was extremely late this morning! Good thing my boss is on vacation this week along with everyone else in the office & it is so very slow this week! The lady I work with laughed & said "good for you! you needed the extra sleep!" as I was panicking about being late to work. I am rarely, if ever, late for work!!!! Someone asked me how I was when I got here. I almost said "tired", but then I thought "I got 2 extra hours of sleep! I can't be tired!!!" LOL! I just had not completely woken up when they asked me. Now that I have had some breakfast and coffee, I feel much better!
My mom is doing well! Her bowels started functioning again yesterday. When I talked to her last night, she had been sitting up in a chair, walking the halls, and eating popsicles. She is hoping to have soft solids later this week. I am so proud of her. She is passing every requirement for going home - I know she is ready, but they still haven't given her a timeframe on that yet. The toxocology reports came back over the weekend & there was NO cancer in the liver & NO cancer in the lymph nodes!!! PRAISE THE LORD!! Thanks so much for all your prayers. She still has a long road, but she is impressing me already & I know she will do just fine!

It's FRIDAY!!!
I am doing a happy dance! I am so glad Friday is here! Even though we have a busy weekend, I am looking forward to not having to get up early and come to work tomorrow morning.
Chris comes home tomorrow - I am so excited! Even though my inlaws have been here helping out this week, I am exhausted. I have been running every day & night preparing for building dedication Sunday & our pastor/wife's 40th anniversary party tonight.
Quick run-down of my week so far:
Monday, after work, went straight to the church & helped move all of the kitchen from the old building to the new activities center. Got home late, crashed around 11:30.
Tuesday - more running after work, picking up items needed for the new building - garbage cans, door stops, toilet brushes, etc...home late, crashing very late again.
Wednesday - prayer service after work. After service, helped move all the tables/chairs along with projector, dvd player, sound equipment to the new bldg. Discovered a "flood" in the new prophet's chamber & ladies restroom. Contractor found the problem - men cleaned up water. Got home late again, but thought I would be in the bed before 10:00; however, my little cute son didn't want to go to sleep. Finally got him down close to midnight only to have him wake me up at 2:00 a.m. Gave up & brought him to my bed. At 4:00, my new puppy woke me up to go outside. Took him out & crawled back in bed to be awakened at 6:00 a.m. for work.
Thursday - had to go back to the church, have someone help me make sure the dvd for tonight was set up properly and in the right place. Contemplated mopping the new gym floor, but was persuaded not to since it was already almost 8:30 at that point. Went by CVS because Grady is now running fever (2 little white teeth cutting through the surface on bottom) & I am out of ibuprofen. Was able to pick up a few deals and then headed home. My son, once again, didn't want to go to bed, so at 10:30, I said "Not doing this again tonight!" & brought him to my bed where we slept until 6:30 this morning!!
So, you see why I will be happy to have my dear sweet hubby home with me again?!
Update on my mom
As of last night when I spoke to dad, they had come in to try and sit her up & it was "quite an ordeal" in his words. Her best friend, who is also a nurse, was there & was able to help her through it. She has been in quite a bit of pain, but dad said she is doing great other than that. We are waiting for her bowels to "awaken" - that will be the biggest thing in allowing her to go home. Thanks for your prayers!
I'm off to finish my week! Enjoy the weekend!

Update
It's been over a week since I blogged, so here I am.
We had a wonderful week with our juniors at Southland Christian Camp. Skyler survived her first week of church camp & had a blast! On Thursday morning she found her daddy outside the dining hall and told him that she had asked Jesus to come into her heart and save her! What a blessing to hear those words from your child!

Grady had fun at camp and met a new friend. Aidan is the son of a local youth pastor/wife. Chris & I enjoyed the adult fellowship while the boys hit it off. Isn't Grady one cool dude in his shades & new hat?!

Last week was busy. Chris stayed on the run all week long putting some finishing touches on the new building at church so that we are set and ready for our building dedication on this coming Sunday. We are excited about what the Lord has in store for our new facilities.
Our bus has constantly given Chris grief since we bought it over 3 years ago. The first year (2005) that we took it to camp, it broke down on the way home. In 2006, it broke down on the way to teen conference, 2007 it broke down again on the way home from teen conference. Guess what, about a month ago, it broke down AGAIN on the way to teen conference. It has been worked on and worked on & the shop that did all the work guaranteed us that it would no longer do what it was doing. They put it in writing. Chris left yesterday morning with 13 teenagers headed out for another week of camp & broke down about 1/2 way there. They were able to rent a 15 passenger van and squeeze all the teens and their luggage on & made it to camp about 7:00 last night. We are praying the bus is fixed so that they can drive it home on Saturday as the rental van was only available for 2 days and he has to drive it back tomorrow by 4:00 p.m.
My mother/father-in-law are here for the week helping me with the kids while I am at work! I received a new blessing on Saturday - Chris has allowed me to have a puppy. He found out about a 6 week old Dachshund male puppy that was being given away. "Browning" is so cute & already a perfect fit to our family. Grady is not sure about him, but both kids are warming up to him. Chris took the camera with him & I haven't been able to take pictures with it yet, but I will post some next week when he is back.
Last Monday, my mother found out that she has colon cancer & will have surgery to remove it this Wednesday. The dr.'s/surgeons are pretty sure that the cancer is contained to that one area and not in her lymph nodes, but will know more once the surgery is done. Please pray for her tomorrow afternoon.
I'll leave you for today with one more photo of my kiddos. One is Skyler and her friends at camp & the other is Grady helping mommy out with the laundry.

Happy Trails!
I don't know how much internet time I will get next week, so this will probably be my last official blog until Monday, June 16. Skyler will be going for her very first week of summer camp next week along with several other kiddos from our church. Of course, Chris & I (& Grady) are the church sponsors; however, we won't be staying with her in the cabin. We will have a room there on the campgrounds & she will stay with a counselor and a bunch of other silly little giggly girls. I keep telling her it will be like one big sleepover 5 nights in a row, except there will be a grown-up & she will be like mommy and tell her to go to sleep at a certain time! Ha ha! I'm just praying she remembers to brush her teeth & hair and shower daily!!!
See y'all in a week!!

I'm still here!
Haven't felt much like blogging this past week. We've been busy & things are about to heat up to high gear for our family. We have teen conference Thursday & Friday night & all day on Saturday. Along with that, I need to have everyone packed up & prepared to leave for camp on Monday (the 9th). The good thing is that the house is clean & the laundry is pretty much all done, so I'm 1/2-way there! :)
My inlaws are coming the week of the 22-28 while Chris goes back to camp with the teens. They will be here to help with the kids during the day while I have to work. This is a huge blessing for me! Especially since I seem to be so exhausted every evening lately!
I received this in my email last week & I wanted to share it with all of you:
Happy Tuesday everyone!

The best way to guide your own behavior is to make a commitment to always be a good example. Lord, may I be a reflection of Your love.
Two distinct qualities mark a person who lives in the light of God. That person is giving and forgiving. Lord, create in me the desire to set You above all else.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Traveling
We are ready to "hit the road!" I don't think I've ever been as prepared for a trip as I am for this one. The house is clean, bags are packed, truck is loaded, and all that's left is us to leave. We are going to a high school graduation at 7:00 before we leave, so it will be a little weird to sit around for a couple of hours since everything is already done. I'm looking forward to actually cooking a decent dinner before we leave so we don't have to eat fast food on the run!
Y'all have a great weekend! Eat lots of yummy cookout food (but in moderation)!! ;)
Happy Memorial Day!!

Ahhhhhhchhhoooooo!
Grr...my allergies are driving me nuts this morning! Would have liked to take a Benadryl and gone back to bed!
Good news - got a call from the taxpayers advocate office yesterday. Looks like our original tax forms posted this week, so the advocate is sending our amendment over immediately for their review. As soon as they approve the amendment, she is going to schedule our direct deposit for our return. This should free up our account to receive our stimulus rebate check on hold as well! Her goal date is by June 24. That's alot better than the Sept 1 date we were give originally! It's about time - we only filed on January 31!!!

Song #1 of Skyler's 2nd piano recital. She has improved so much this past year! Song #2 hasn't been uploaded to the computer yet, but will be added soon.
For some reason, it won't let me insert the movie directly into my post, so here is the link to her performance.

Hurry Up!
I am so ready for the end of today! We had a big birthday celebration for all the spring bdays in our department - they had Pei Wei & it was so good. I need a nap!
Summer's Here!
Tomorrow is the last day of school for our area! We did it - we survived 2nd grade!! Skyler finished strongly - barely missing honor roll! Given the many twists and bends this year, we are very proud of how hard she worked.
We are so excited & so ready for the weekend to hurry up and get here! Friday night, we will be attending graduation for 2 of our high school seniors and then heading out of town to my parents for the weekend. Sunday afternoon, my 4 best high school friends and their husbands/children will be coming out to my mom's house for a reunion cookout. One of the girls is leaving for Hong Kong next month. She & her husband will be teaching over there!
This summer will be a very busy summer. June 5-7, we have our annual Joy of Living teen conference in Atoka, TN. On June 9, we leave for LA with a group of junior kids for the first week of church camp - this is Skyler's first year as a camper!! Chris leaves again on June 23 with a group of teens - the kids & I will stay behind for this week. July is busy with preparation for our Vacation Bible School starting on the 21st. Our VBS wraps up Friday the 25th, & we leave early the morning of the 26th headed to Wilson, KS for another week of VBS. This is our missions trip for the year. We're back home on Aug 2 & Skyler starts 3rd grade on Aug 7!!! Summer break won't last long for her! We are also planning a trip to Nashville to see my brother when he comes in for a break from Iraq mid-Aug & a trip to Pensacola to "deliver" a college student for fall semester on labor day weekend!
