Checking In

Has it been over a month since I last posted?

July has come and it is almost gone. The kids & I visited east Tennessee for the 4th of July weekend. My father's side of the family had their first ever family reunion - it was a wonderful time to see those I haven't seen in ages! I also had the opportunity to visit both of my grandmothers and spend a little time sitting with them!

My inlaws picked the kids up late afternoon of the 4th & took them back home to Kentucky for 2 weeks.....yes, 2 WHOLE WEEKS without my children! The first week went okay, but Chris & I went away for a short trip, and when we came home to a quiet empty house, we were very lonely and missing them for the second week! We are so glad to have them home!

June 19 was our 10th wedding anniversary & since we were unable to do anything big that weekend, Chris took me on a short weekend getaway while the kids were at their grandparents. We visited the grand state of Alabama - Florence is just a short 45-50 minute drive for us, but we were able to get a hotel room with a beautiful view of the lake and an awesome pool! We slept late, laid in the pool, ate, and shopped - at Target! I've missed Target since we moved to Corinth, so we spent several hours shopping there! I'm thinking the drive may be worth once a month to visit Target in the future! We took a drive over to Tuscumbia and visited Helen Keller's birthplace. All in all, we had a great weekend trip!

This week is Vacation Bible School - we are using an older theme from our previous church a few years ago. Our theme is Rescue Zone: Saved by God's Power. We had 16 kids on Monday & 20 kids on Tuesday night. We knew attendance would not be as high as we were used to in the city, but are thankful to have the ones that are coming! I'm teaching 1-6 grade together since we were short on teachers - they have been a great group of kids so far!

Saturday, the kids will leave us again to spend the week with my parents in middle Tennessee. Skyler will have the opportunity to "rough it" at the camp where I grew up visiting every summer. One of my best childhood friend's daughter is going as well and she & Skyler were born the same year, so they should have a great time seeing where their momma's went to camp as little girls! When they come back, we will have 2 days to get ready for Skyler to start 4th grade. It's hard to believe I have a 4th grader this year! Grady moves up to the 3 year old room at preschool! Whoohoo!

The pregnancy is going well. I had a small "bump in the road" last week when I had some bleeding. I did see my dr. and had an ultrasound. I have a uti, which I've experienced in previous pregnancies - am on antibiotics for that. During the ultrasound, we saw the baby kicking, stretching, and rolling - what an amazing sight! They did notice that I also have partial placenta previa, which means that the placenta is lying close to the cervix. Not a huge concern right now as it is not covering the cervix, but they will keep an eye on it through the next few appt's. We are confident that the Lord has it all under control and He will take care of moving it where it needs to be! Here's the latest picture!
